ASBESTOS ABATEMENT (SOPs)

Inland Environmental recommends the use of following standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the criteria of selecting a qualified asbestos abatement contractor to completed your asbestos abatement project with the following important considerations and a matter of preference:

The important consideration is not necessarily what work is described, but rather, how it is done...

Regarding the contractor's containments use...

Is it important to you that the contractor uses a form of flooring protection when bringing in and out equipment for the initial set up?

__ Yes   __ No  __ Not Important.

Is it important to you that the plastic containment is tightly installed over all affected areas, in the industry standard 6ml thickness, new never used and operationally functional?

__ Yes   __ No  __ Not Important.

Regarding the contractor's equipment used...

Is it important to you that the equipment used by the Contractor is pre-cleaned/decontaminated from previous use and in good appearance and operational function?

__ Yes   __ No  __ Not Important.

Is it important that when the abatement contractor has completed the work, prior to removing equipment from the containments at your site, sufficient time is also allocated to cleaning equipment prior to it being used at the next project?

__ Yes   __ No  __ Not Important.

Regarding monitoring of the work inside and outside of containments..

Will your contractor incorporate the use of the negative pressure monitoring of the containment to maintain at least -0.02 inches of mercury over the duration of the abatement activities prior to obtaining air clearance analysis.,

__ Yes   __ No  __ Not Important.

Will the monitoring equipment incorporate an alarm if not functioning correctly will the abatement contractor provide 24/hour emergency corrective assistance if sounded?

__ Yes   __ No  __ Not Important.

Do you believe that it is important to perform and document (required regulatory)exposure analysis inside to protect the contractor's employees during the abatement process as well as the areas outside of the containment to ensure that the containment is protecting you and your family?

__ Yes   __ No  __ Not Important.

Is it important to you that the asbestos abatement contractor is free of any previous incidents or multiple-ongoing regulatory agency violation sightings and or law suits with clients?

__ Yes   __ No  __ Not Important.

It is our opinion that the true consideration of a quality asbestos abatement contracting firm is not necessarily just the number of clients who recommend them for doing exceptional work, but how the contractor also responds to incidents where something went wrong and how they respond to correct the situation.
